Wow, what a turn out for our 3rd Annual – Drive-in Movie and car show. The fact that there was zero chance of rain I’m sure played a huge roll. The weather was great, even for the movie. I think we hit a record, with this show being our largest show to date – having 170 cars register and nearing 500 people in attendance. It was exciting to see so many Hines Park Ford t-shirts and hats in the crowd. A tell tale sign of repeat car show participants. Just as exciting, was to hear about all the first time car show participants. We hope everyone had a great time. Between the money raised from the autographed hat that was auctioned off and donations from the pizza and popcorn we were able to raise \$1,111 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Our September show marks the conclusion to our 2009 car show season. Weather being the most unpredictable and least controllable played quite the roll in our shows this year. Fortunately, none of them were a complete wash. Even though 2009 has been a rough year for many, people still showed their generosity by contributing almost \$3000 to local charities. From each of our shows, contributions were made to the following charities:
June car show: \$ 1,200 to The Rainbow Connection
July car show: \$637 to The Karmanos Cancer Institute
September car show: \$1111 to JDRF
We hope to see everyone again next year for our 2010 shows.
